I live in a communist-run household

Everyone receives equal food and allowance, but I am forced to put this on the website. Gah.

In 6000-2686 B.C., the first Egyptians began to settle along the banks of the Nile River. They eventually evolved from hunters and gatherers to settled farmers that irrigated water from the Nile. The Nile annually brought in a deposit of rich soil, which the farmers used for the crops. In April, the Nile was at its lowest level, which caused the vegetation to diminish and the game to move south. During the Paleolithic period, a revolution in food production occurred. The Egyptians stopped eating meat so much and switched to a more vegetarian diet. Plants such as wheat and barley were not gathered in the wild any longer, but farmers grew them abundantly as crops.
The head god of the Delta was Horus, the falcon-headed god. The name Horus comes from the Egyptian word ‘Hor’, which translates as ‘face’. Horus is crowned with the crown of all Egypt. While they reigned, Pharaohs identified themselves as Horus. After they died, they became Osiris, who was the god of the dead. The head god of Upper Egypt was Seth, who was the god of the desert, storm, and violence. He has an animal head with a long snout, and sometimes he has a forked tail. The king of the gods was Ra, who was showed shown by as a falcon crowned with a sun disk. During the day, Ra sailed across the heavens in a boat called the “Barque of Millions of Years”. At the end of the day, he was thought to die and sail on his night voyage to the Underworld. Ra was thought to have fought a snake called Apep, who was his chief enemy. Ra usually won, but on stormy days or eclipses, the Egyptians believed that Apep had been victorious and swallowed the sun.
The Egyptians invented many amazing things, but perhaps the best known and amazing of them all are the pyramids. There are about one hundred ten pyramids currently known in Egypt, but most of them are in a state of disrepair. The best-known pyramids are the pyramids at Giza. The earliest pyramid built was the Step Pyramid, built for King Djoser. The first true pyramid was built for King Sneferu during the Fourth Dynasty. It was about 105 meters high, and referred to as the Red Pyramid because of its reddish color. The largest pyramid ever built was the Great Pyramid, completed around 2550 BC. Built for King Khufu, it’s one of the three pyramids located in Giza. This pyramid contains approximately 2,300,000 blocks of stone, and has sides of 230 meters in length.
Another amazing invention was plumbing. According to the Egyptians, when someone died, they were just passing from one state of life to another. Because the living needed food, water, clothing, and other things, the dead needed them as well. Thus, it’s not very surprising when excavators found bathrooms in some tombs. Found within a pyramid built by King Tutankhamen’s father-in-law was a drainpipe made of brass running from the upper temple to the outer temple on the river.
Although the Egyptians are sometimes viewed as primitive beings, after studying their inventions, beliefs, and development, history has shown that they were actually quite advanced.
